To the future computer class members… my one advice would be STAY UP ON EXCELL. It can go pretty fast so make sure you give yourself adequate time to do the homework.

FAVS
I thoroughly enjoyed looking at all my classmates websites, I am super impressed. I would have to say my three favorites are Leslie’s, Tommies’s, and Lisa’s.
I enjoyed Leslies website so much, mainly because it has really attractive pictures on it and I love her navbar, so cool. I thought that it possessed the right about of business and simplicity. I don’t know how she did it but she did. Leslie has true talent in the visual communication department.
Tommies… Love Love Love . I am totally obsessed with everything that is mountain-esk so naturally I adore Tommies. I thought that her navebar was really cohesive and unique, plus I thought that her opening music was PERFECT for her site.
I really had a fun time looking at Lisa’s. I thoroughly enjoyed looking at all of her pictures, she had the most pictures on her website and that is by far my favorite part of a website. I feel like I know her a little bit better after looking at all of them. Great job leslie.

WEBSITE
COME VISIT MY WEBSITE AT http://www.cs.trinity.edu/~kmaddox/
However my experiance in creating my website was a plesant surprise. I was expecting it to be an exasperating and horrible task but in reality it was fairly painless. because I was out of town the weekend before this was due I had to create each page on photoshop and then email it to myself and down load it to the email stet up program. This was very tedious and challenging work initially because if I needed to make any corrections whatsoever I had to re-email it to myself and open and create it as a 1100 by 900 pixle webpicture. Because I created my website like this I wasnt able to put any sort of videos or music links on it. this I wish I would have been able to do. However, I am very pleased with how my website turned out, it possesses a very pretty color sceme and is very simple.

UP KEEP
Unfortunately I was unable to be at class the day that Larry came to talk to the class. However after reading some of the blogs from my class mates I am very sad that I couldn't come to class and miss vital information about the pros and cons to Macs and PCs. also in my past I have delt with the oh so frustrating aspects of computer's which is horrific feeling of loosing a paper or other document that has not been backed up properly. Also I never knew if it was a good or a bad thing to allow an electronic device to die completely before charging it. Now I know... LET IT DIE.

DREAM CAMPUS
When we were first assigned this project my first thought was what is one thing I could love to change with just a click of a mouse? Then it hit me. I love going to school at Trinity but I have always wanted to go to school or live somewhere where there are mountains. So to have mountains surrounding Trinity would be the best thing EVER!! I used the magic wand to cut mountains out of a picture and place them around a picture of the Trinity campus giving the illusion that mountains really preside in San Antonio. I also did some smudging to try to make the mountains look like they really are surrounding the campus.
Tuesday
PRESENTATIONS
In my presentation I discussed the benefits and opportunities that come about by majoring in communications. Some strengths of my presentation were the cohesiveness and sharpness of my graphics and slides as a whole. Something I would have improved would have been to introduce the video from "The Office" more clearly. And explain more thoroughly why I was using it. Two of my favorite presentations were Hang Bui’s and Leslie Green’s. I really enjoyed the video that was on Hang’s presentation on entrepreneurship, it was very inspiring. With Leslie’s presentation I enjoyed how we were able to see her passion behind visual art and communication through the excellence of her entire presentation.
HOW TO SEARCH THE WEB
Unfortunately I wasn't able to listen in on Chris Nolan's talk but after reading the class notes and classmates blogs I have found some really really interesting information about researching information on the WEB. I am in the middle of working on an annotated bibliography for another class and it was a HUGE help to learn about scholarly google search in order to find scholarly sources for journals. this is something that I will use for the remainder of my college career.

UGH not a PowerPoint
UGH not a PowerPoint
My top five pet peeves when dealing with PowerPoint are…
- Way too many graphs and pictures on each side, creating a great challenge for A.D.D students to follow along
- When there is too much information on each side so then the professor literally just reads off the slide. Instead of simply emphasizing the key point and just putting those facts on the slide.
- Poor choice of font color, either too light or too dark depending on the background
- Spinning letters that created words
- Unorganized power point, an in cohesive flow of information
I have however seen some great PowerPoint presentations in my day. I really enjoy those PowerPoints that provide really great information with coordinating videos that help the onlooker to better understand the information. Entertaining videos are always the best way to go.
Monday
CTL
OK so I had no idea that such a place like CLT existed last year. I was thoroughly impressed with all the programing and computer system that are available to trinity students FOR FREE. I am really excited to know of such a legitimate place where I can get some great help and advice when it come to working and navigating the technological world, I'm not so savvy in that department. I am planning on being a communications major and I am very excited to know of a place especially here on campus where I will be able to work on future project and presentations in my upper division classes that I'm sure will require the assistance of the mass software available in CLT.
PHOTO SHOPPING... pick out a face
I LOVE this picture it is hilarious. This is a picture of the jackalope, a faux animal. With their digitally altered antlers, the jackalope is created to posses the image of being highly aggressive. Because they are willing to use their antlers to fight the jackalope is at times referred to as the "warrior rabbit." This digitally altered picture creates the image that the jackalope's are scanning the mountain plains.
In the same token I do not personally have a problem with digitally altered photographs, as long as the reporter acknowledges somewhere that an alteration has taken place. below is a video of using photoshop to enhance the appearance of Angelina Jolie.

EXCEL
My experiance with excell started off very rough but i am slowly getting the hang of things. Everything that we have gone over has been all new information to me. In my classes i will definitely use theconditional formatting and all the graph designes. In real life I an looking forward to providing a graph for the information that I collect, maybe with basketball stats who knows :-). The only thing that i dont like about the program is that it is different with Macs and PC's
CopyWRONG
During my academic career plagiarism and all the copyright red tape just posed as a nuisance. A overly redundant and picky process to cover and protect my work. However, after Jason Hardin’s talk on copyright, I plan on being far more careful not only in the academic realm but also in dealing with the fuzzy line that surrounds file sharing and downloading music. The idea that it is considered a felony if you make more than 10 copies of something off the Internet freaks me out! I thought that it was really interesting that Copyright was first created to enforce individual rights dating back to 1790. And that it was created to promote and protect useful arts and sciences for the newly found America, knowing how important a strong cultural base is for a country. By issuing a Copyright law it also provide economic incentive for those artist and intellectual thinkers to feel confident that their finding would not be compromised or stolen.

INNER NET-WORKINGS OF A WIRELESS CAMPUS
This is my Networking Diagram illustrating the Trinity wireless connection. After the tour of the Halsell network system, it showed me how complicated our system is to protect and maintain, yet still allowing it to be relatively simple for the Trinity Students to use and navigate. I decided to use ClipArt, screenshots, and text boxes to create this diagram.

TRINITY MYSTERY SPOT
Hey class, this is my mystery location. I chose this spot on campus because it is a location that I walk through every single day. I altered the photo but creating a back frame that makes my picture look like a polaroid picture, with an accenting maroon background. I adjusted the pictures sharpness, coloring, contouring, the exposure and a boost effect. I did all of these changes in order to make my picture have similar qualities as an actual polaroid picture. Also, I added a text on the bottom of my picture in order to provide you a clue. good luck!

TECH TIPS- thanks Joe
WOW, thanks to Joe Hatch i now know that Macs are not invincible to getting a virus, ultimately allowing a hacker into my information. The best tip we got was about emptying our browser. I definitely plan on doing it frequently and hopefully it will improve my internet speed and the overall performance of my computer.
ME...
Hello class, my name is Kemble Maddox. I am a sophomore here at Trinity and I am from Fort Worth Texas. I am on the women's basketball team here at Trinity. Unfortunately, I have been unable to play due to a recurring ACL injury. A second passion of mine, here on campus, is the organization known as FCA(fellowship of christian athletes). I have very little computing knowledge to speak of right now but I am very excited to see how this class can teach me a few things about computer skills. The one thing I have concerns about is the fear of getting behind and struggling to catch up. My secret is that I have this very unusual ability to twist my wrist and hand 360 degrees around. My email account is kmaddox@trinity.edu
