To the future computer class members… my one advice would be STAY UP ON EXCELL. It can go pretty fast so make sure you give yourself adequate time to do the homework.

FAVS
I thoroughly enjoyed looking at all my classmates websites, I am super impressed. I would have to say my three favorites are Leslie’s, Tommies’s, and Lisa’s.
I enjoyed Leslies website so much, mainly because it has really attractive pictures on it and I love her navbar, so cool. I thought that it possessed the right about of business and simplicity. I don’t know how she did it but she did. Leslie has true talent in the visual communication department.
Tommies… Love Love Love . I am totally obsessed with everything that is mountain-esk so naturally I adore Tommies. I thought that her navebar was really cohesive and unique, plus I thought that her opening music was PERFECT for her site.
I really had a fun time looking at Lisa’s. I thoroughly enjoyed looking at all of her pictures, she had the most pictures on her website and that is by far my favorite part of a website. I feel like I know her a little bit better after looking at all of them. Great job leslie.

WEBSITE
COME VISIT MY WEBSITE AT http://www.cs.trinity.edu/~kmaddox/
However my experiance in creating my website was a plesant surprise. I was expecting it to be an exasperating and horrible task but in reality it was fairly painless. because I was out of town the weekend before this was due I had to create each page on photoshop and then email it to myself and down load it to the email stet up program. This was very tedious and challenging work initially because if I needed to make any corrections whatsoever I had to re-email it to myself and open and create it as a 1100 by 900 pixle webpicture. Because I created my website like this I wasnt able to put any sort of videos or music links on it. this I wish I would have been able to do. However, I am very pleased with how my website turned out, it possesses a very pretty color sceme and is very simple.

UP KEEP
Unfortunately I was unable to be at class the day that Larry came to talk to the class. However after reading some of the blogs from my class mates I am very sad that I couldn't come to class and miss vital information about the pros and cons to Macs and PCs. also in my past I have delt with the oh so frustrating aspects of computer's which is horrific feeling of loosing a paper or other document that has not been backed up properly. Also I never knew if it was a good or a bad thing to allow an electronic device to die completely before charging it. Now I know... LET IT DIE.

DREAM CAMPUS
When we were first assigned this project my first thought was what is one thing I could love to change with just a click of a mouse? Then it hit me. I love going to school at Trinity but I have always wanted to go to school or live somewhere where there are mountains. So to have mountains surrounding Trinity would be the best thing EVER!! I used the magic wand to cut mountains out of a picture and place them around a picture of the Trinity campus giving the illusion that mountains really preside in San Antonio. I also did some smudging to try to make the mountains look like they really are surrounding the campus.

PRESENTATIONS
In my presentation I discussed the benefits and opportunities that come about by majoring in communications. Some strengths of my presentation were the cohesiveness and sharpness of my graphics and slides as a whole. Something I would have improved would have been to introduce the video from "The Office" more clearly. And explain more thoroughly why I was using it. Two of my favorite presentations were Hang Bui’s and Leslie Green’s. I really enjoyed the video that was on Hang’s presentation on entrepreneurship, it was very inspiring. With Leslie’s presentation I enjoyed how we were able to see her passion behind visual art and communication through the excellence of her entire presentation.
HOW TO SEARCH THE WEB
Unfortunately I wasn't able to listen in on Chris Nolan's talk but after reading the class notes and classmates blogs I have found some really really interesting information about researching information on the WEB. I am in the middle of working on an annotated bibliography for another class and it was a HUGE help to learn about scholarly google search in order to find scholarly sources for journals. this is something that I will use for the remainder of my college career.

UGH not a PowerPoint
UGH not a PowerPoint
My top five pet peeves when dealing with PowerPoint are…
- Way too many graphs and pictures on each side, creating a great challenge for A.D.D students to follow along
- When there is too much information on each side so then the professor literally just reads off the slide. Instead of simply emphasizing the key point and just putting those facts on the slide.
- Poor choice of font color, either too light or too dark depending on the background
- Spinning letters that created words
- Unorganized power point, an in cohesive flow of information
I have however seen some great PowerPoint presentations in my day. I really enjoy those PowerPoints that provide really great information with coordinating videos that help the onlooker to better understand the information. Entertaining videos are always the best way to go.
